From Recovery to Performance: Meet Our New Sports Massage Specialist Linda

From Recovery to Performance: Meet Our New Sports Massage Specialist Linda

We’re thrilled to introduce Linda as the newest member of our growing wellness team at The Little Beautique! Many of you might already know Linda—she’s a beloved local from the coast with two amazing grown kids (one of whom happens to be my best friend, so I’m a little biased!). After years of sharing her expert massage skills in the city, Linda has decided to return to her roots and bring her decades of experience closer to home. I recently sat down with Linda to answer some of your burning questions and give you a chance to get to know her a little better!

How long have you been in the industry?

I've been massaging for 35 years. I love working with clients to help reduce their pain and as a physical trainer to educate them with how to manage their condition.

Is there a specific type of massage you specialise in?

I am trained in many modalities of massage but I specialise in sports massage, and neck and back pain and deep tissue work.

What qualifications do you have?

I have a diploma in Massage from the NZ collage of massage and advanced skill training in Neuromuscular therapy. I am a trained physical trainer with a post graduate certificate in health sciences muscular skeletal medicine from Auckland Med School. I was working on rehabilitation especially with neck and back pain with a multi disciplinary team and previously I was an affiliated NZ sports institute provider and I massaged for the NZ Olympic sailing team in China as well as individual Olympic athletes. I also have a diploma in teaching majoring in physical education and a diploma in sports psychology.

What can your clients expect at their first session with you?

At your first session we will talk about any pain issues you have, sometimes I will do a postural assessment to find areas of tightness and imbalances which may be causing you tension. We will chat about your current training program if you are involved in a sport. I will have you fill in a form outlying any issues or medications. We will chat about over your massage expectations and levels of massage preference. Before I finish your session we will cover self care, and frequency of your visits. It's always great to use massage as a preventative rather than hold out until an issue arises.

How can our clients book their session with you?

To book in you can text me directly or phone to chat further on 027 4866926.
